The inspiration for my latest collection, A Gentle Way, blossomed during an intuitive
journey along the Santa Fe River Trail, my first venture into sketching nature with my
iPad.
Under a canopy of cool, cloudy skies with storm clouds gathering, I crafted three swift, delicate sketches. I really liked their soft, watercolor-like beauty.
As I prepared to leave, I decided to capture a quick video for my Facebook business page. Venturing down an unfamiliar stretch of the trail, I began recording—and there, affixed to a weathered fence, I spotted a sign. A bold sticker proclaimed, “Choose Love,” and in that moment, I felt a profound shift stirring within my world.
The next morning, drawn by an inner calling, I returned for an early walk. Instead of my usual stride, I paused by the river’s edge, enveloped in a serene stillness. The gentle murmur of the water, the soft chorus of birds—it was a symphony of calm. In that quietude, I knew my next paintings must embody this newfound softness, this tender embrace of love.
The result is the most subtly hued works I’ve ever created—four pieces that mark the dawn of a new series, a fresh artistic path unfolding with grace and intention.
