It was during a period of personal grief in 2010 that I was unable to continue painting the realistic landscapes that I had done for so many years. But, this was also the time I first connected to the healing power of art. The grief I felt over losing my mom led me to focus on creating small drawings done with black markers on white paper. As I continued drawing, I continued healing.
Over time what was initially a mental diversion had transformed into a collection of dreamlike drawings full of personal and universal symbols of hope, strength, and the spirit of renewal. When I began to paint again those drawings became the inspiration for the acrylic and ink paintings that comprise my “Inner Landscape” series.
