2025 Original New Inner Landscape Series

For years, fans of my Inner Landscape Series have been asking for more original works in the same spirit. Now, in 2025, I’m excited to share the next chapter of this journey.

The first Inner Landscapes began in 2011, about seven months after my mother passed away. Overwhelmed by grief and struggling to adjust to life without her, I turned to painting as a way to heal. That series became a reflection of rebirth, transformation, and forging new paths forward. The dreamlike and whimsical imagery—filled with butterflies, spirals, and bright colors—was something my mother would have loved. Creating those works helped me process my loss and find peace.

Though the series was short-lived, prints of those pieces have touched lives for over a decade. Many of my customers have shared how the series resonated with them during their own journeys of healing—physically, emotionally, or spiritually—or as caregivers helping others. These connections have been some of the most rewarding moments of my career.

Now, I’m thrilled to introduce new works inspired not by grief but by spiritual awakening. After decades of spiritual exploration, I’ve returned to my roots—not to religion but to a deep study of the Bible. I’ve found profound spiritual truths woven throughout its sixty-six books, revealing themselves in intricate and beautiful patterns over time. This discovery has fueled my creativity, and I’m dreaming new paintings filled with fresh symbols and meaning.

I can’t wait to share these new pieces with you and hope they inspire, uplift, and connect with you as deeply as my prior series.

I’m always happy to send you images of more currently-available work for your consideration. Please, feel free to text or call Julie anytime to see what original works are available in your desired sizes and palettes.

“Elohim”
(hand-carved, hand-painted)
Basswood Frame

FRAMED ORIGINAL

This acrylic painting began as a simple blue surface with scattered clouds. Initially, I had no detailed plan beyond creating an abstract tree of life. One morning, I saw a stunning sky outside my home, where small clouds in golds and oranges formed a striking pattern. Inspired, I painted them, and they transformed into the crown of my tree, resembling wings.

From there, the painting flowed naturally. I painted tendrils of electricity to form the branches and trunk, and smaller trees growing up from the roots of the central tree, ensuring all elements were interconnected.

During this time, I was reading Genesis, the first book of the Old Testament, and the painting reminded me of God in the act of creation. I named it Elohim, the first name given to God, meaning “one made up of many,” which perfectly reflects the essence of this piece.

“Life Eternal 2”
(hand-carved,
hand-painted)
Basswood Frame

FRAMED ORIGINAL

This painting was inspired by my final piece of 2024, “Life Eternal”. That work depicted a tree atop a hill, with its roots weaving in and out of the ground, giving rise to new trees—small but strong—and one larger, nearly mature tree near the base. It symbolized the generations of humanity, each giving life to the next in an eternal cycle.

In this version, “Life Eternal 2”, I included 12 lights in each mature tree, inspired by the twelfth letter of the Hebrew alphabet, Lamed, which symbolizes teaching, learning, and protection.
I also added a prominent winding path up the hill, representing the journey from this world to the next, from earth to eternity.

“Divine Fullness”
(hand-carved, hand-painted)
Basswood Frame

FRAMED ORIGINAL

“Divine Fullness” was inspired by a vivid dream I had where I stood in awe of a tree adorned with light blue-violet orchids. As I marveled at its beauty, I declared, “That’s my tree!” The dream, though brief, was so powerful that I felt compelled to create a painting based on it.

This painting was inspired by a vivid dream I had where I stood in awe of a tree adorned with light blue-violet orchids. As I marveled at its beauty, I declared, “That’s my tree!” The dream, though brief, was so powerful that I felt compelled to create a painting based on it.

Over several weeks, I sketched and experimented with compositions, eventually beginning the painting just before Christmas, 2024. Using acrylics, I refined it through many stages until it captured the essence of my dream. Although the finished piece differs visually from what I saw, it evokes the same profound feeling. To complement the painting, I carved and painted the frame to accentuate the colors of the flowers.

Choosing the title was equally meaningful. My titles reflect the deeper significance that emerges during the creative process. I discovered that orchids symbolize spiritual growth across various traditions. Drawing on my recent studies of the Bible, the painting resonates with the Old Testament account of the third day of creation, when God gathered the waters into one place, let the dry land appear, and brought forth vegetation and trees.

The number of flowers also carries significance, and for meaning I turned to the third letter of the Hebrew alphabet, Gimel, representing nourishment, ripening, and “divine fullness.” All these elements aligned perfectly with the painting’s spirit, and the title became clear to me.
